ABOUT
In Jamaica, approximately 600,000 students in 3,639 public and private educational institutions were impacted by school closures due to the spread of COVID-19.
It is estimated that 30,000 were unable to participate in the educational process due to the lack of access to technology.
World Class Jamaica embarked on a four month Device for Every Child Campaign to get electronic devices into the hands of children in rural Jamaica who desperately need them.
Through the generosity of our donors, we surpassed our ambitious target of 200 e-devices. We successfully raised 300 devices through a combination of monetary and in-kind contributions of laptops and tablets. These devices were donated to vulnerable students who, in many cases, were disconnected from the learning process.
Each of the donated tablets were updated with pre-loaded learning content accessible to students both on and offline.
WCJ will:
Provide tablets and laptops to needy
and vulnerable students
Develop and download content to enhance learning
